Executive Leadership Team

Alan Tyson

CEO & Co-Founder
Alan Tyson is CEO and Co-Founder of DATABASICS and is responsible for ensuring that all the company’s stakeholders have the best possible experience with DATABASICS.
 
Alan began his career in IT as a programmer with the Bureau of Economic Analysis of the Commerce Department, where he developed systems for calculating the US Balance of Payments and survey processing. He then joined Control DATA Corporation (later Dayforce) where he led the team that produced one of the first microcomputer-based accounting systems, AgPros.
 
At its startup, DATABASICS actually operated out of Alan’s garage.
 
Alan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Rochester with a degree in Philosophy.
 
He lives in Great Falls, Virginia with his wife, and co-founder, Shirley.

Marcel Syriani

CTO & COO
Marcel Syriani serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer at DATABASICS, overseeing operations, finance, product direction, and IT functions. His leadership focuses on efficiency, innovation, and market expansion, guided by the belief that a product's success stems from the people who design, develop, test, document, implement, support, market, and sell it.
 
With expertise in tackling complex challenges and implementing scalable solutions, Marcel continuously seeks innovative approaches to enhance operations and drive growth. He holds an MBA in Management from Johns Hopkins University and both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from George Washington University, with additional background in finance. His combination of technical knowledge, business acumen, and operational experience continues to guide DATABASICS in the competitive SaaS time and expense management industry, focusing on creating value through collaborative excellence rather than technology alone.

Chris Harley

Vice President of Sales
Chris Harley is the Vice President of Sales at DATABASICS, where he oversees activities related to new sales and channel management. Chris joined DATABASICS in 2000 as an Account Executive and has worked with hundreds of our customers and partners over years. In addition to supporting DATABASICS sales efforts, it’s not uncommon to see him presenting at industry events providing his unique insight.
 
Prior to DATABASICS, Chris held Sales and Business Development positions for MicroStrategy and Paychex.
 
He holds Bachelor of Art degree in Political Science from Villanova University. Originally from Southern California, today Chris resides in Northern Virginia where he enjoys travel, golf, whiskey, and cheering on his children’s college’s sports teams (not always in that order!)

Steve Sullivan

Vice President of Marketing
Steve Sullivan is the Vice President of Marketing at DATABASICS, where he oversees the strategy and execution of all marketing initiatives, including brand development, lead and demand generation, partner marketing, and content and digital strategy.
 
Before joining DATABASICS, he was the Head of Marketing at LOGICLY, where he designed a marketing strategy that achieved 3x valuation and 30x client growth, meeting three-year targets in just 16 months. Prior to LOGICLY, Steve led marketing teams at several FinTech companies and founded a successful marketing and writing agency, where he also served as a Fractional CMO for the agency’s clients.
 
He holds both an MBA and a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Temple University.
 
An avid reader and writer, Steve is the author of a 550-page novel set in the American Southwest. He’s a certified SCUBA diver, a diehard fan of the Super Bowl 59 champion Philadelphia Eagles, and above all, loves spending time with his family – especially exploring the outdoors and hiking together in Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and other National Parks.

Aashish Aswani

Data Integrations Analyst
Aashish Aswani is a Data Integrations Analyst at DATABASICS, where he is responsible for collecting, storing, and integrating data from various sources to ensure seamless system functionality. He works closely with clients to provide custom solutions that meet their specific requirements, helping optimize data workflows and system interactions.
 
Before joining DATABASICS, Aashish earned a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from the George Washington University School of Business.
 
Originally from St. Maarten, Aashish completed two years of military service in Singapore before pursuing his academic career.
 
In his free time, Aashish enjoys watching basketball and spending quality time with family and friends.

Amanda Mendoza

Marketing Manager

Amanda Canupp Mendoza serves as the Marketing Technology Manager at DATABASICS. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction from George Mason University and has a background in English. Her role involves developing marketing strategies that combine storytelling with data-driven approaches to engage audiences and support business objectives.

As a certified HubSpot user, Amanda manages marketing campaigns designed to reach specific target demographics. Her work encompasses various aspects of marketing, including content creation, copywriting, digital marketing, and social media management.

Amanda is a writer, photographer, mother, and actress who loves to read and play RPGs. She averages 52 books per year and loves to take her two ids to theme parks. Fun fact: she has also been to every Disney park in the whole world (yes, that includes Shanghai and Tokyo).

Anthony Vallelonga

UX Engineer and Product Security Specialist

Anthony Vallelonga is a UX Engineer and Product Security Specialist dedicated to enhancing web application safety and the user experience. His expertise is in web application security, penetration testing, and collaborating closely with development teams to refine both new and existing features. Additionally, Anthony integrates UX design principles to create secure and user-friendly digital experiences.

Before his current role, Anthony gained valuable experience in management, focusing on tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), timekeeping, and optimizing office efficiency.

Anthony holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with a minor in Forensic Computing from Marymount University. He has also earned multiple certifications and completed specialized training in web application security, equipping him with cutting-edge knowledge and tools to safeguard digital ecosystems.

Outside of work, Anthony enjoys staying active through fitness, exploring the outdoors, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his family.

Anushka Vashisht

Systems & Applications Consultant
Anushka Vashisht is a Systems and Application Consultant at DATABASICS, where she helps clients implement, configure, and optimize the company’s time tracking and expense management solutions. She delivers technical support, troubleshoots issues, and ensures efficient system performance to improve business operations.
 
Before joining DATABASICS, Anushka interned at Pentagon Federal Credit Union as an App Management Intern, gaining hands-on experience in application support and management. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a specialization in cloud computing in just three years. Post graduation, she started at DATABASICS in her first full-time role.
 
Outside of work, she has a deep passion for the arts, having grown up singing in an advanced women’s choir and enjoying poetry, painting, and pottery. Anushka has always dreamed of seeing the world and experiencing new cultures, she has curated a list of over 100+ restaurants and destinations she hopes to visit one day. Above all, she loves spending time with her family and loves dogs.

Ed Hickey

Account Manager
Ed Hickey is an Account Manager at DATABASICS. He is responsible for ensuring customers receive maximum value from their DATABASICS solutions. Ed does so by providing service that exceeds customer expectations, by verifying configuration and system operations are optimal, and ensuring the customer’s business objectives are achieved.
 
Previously, Ed spearheaded a successful effort in FinTech to create a national measured ZIP+4 consumer liquid assets database which became the gold standard for measuring US consumer wealth. He has been a Business and Customer development leader for various blue-chip FinTech companies.
 
Ed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from St Joseph’s University. Like anyone who lives life to its fullest, Ed can’t decide what he likes to do best because he likes to do almost everything. He’s away most weekends on mini-adventures with his family, and can be found on Saturdays anywhere between Charlotte, NC and Lake Placid, NY.
 
Fun Fact: Ed was a senior team member at Micron Technology US that developed the Driver Assisted Controls Processor, which is a microprocessor used worldwide in autonomous driving technologies by every major automobile brand.

Ernesia Toney

Training Specialist
Ernesia Toney is a Training Specialist at DATABASICS Inc., where she develops and delivers training programs to help users maximize the company’s software solutions. With a focus on workforce training, instructional design, and customer education, she creates engaging learning experiences through interactive training sessions, webinars, and resource development.
 
Before transitioning into her current role, Ernesia worked as a Systems and Applications Consultant, specializing in ad hoc reporting and system implementations. Her hands-on experience with system functionality and user support gives her a well-rounded perspective when designing effective training programs.
 
Ernesia holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and is currently pursuing her MBA at the University of Maryland Global Campus, with an expected graduation in May 2025.
 
Outside of work, Ernesia loves reading, going on long walks, and exploring new places. As a strong advocate for self-care and personal growth, she also prioritizes healthy meal prepping and fitness.

Jason Wade

Sales Executive
Jason Wade is a Sales Executive at DATABASICS, where he focuses on promoting Time Tracking and Expense Reporting Solutions for mid-market and enterprise clients. His deep understanding of client needs and business processes allows him to provide exceptional service and solutions that drive efficiency and productivity.
 
Before joining DATABASICS, Jason spent nearly 20 years in the legal software and services industry. His tenure included significant roles in management as well as hands-on experience in direct sales, where he demonstrated a knack for understanding complex systems and client requirements. This background has given him a unique perspective on how technology can streamline operations in various sectors.
 
When he's not closing deals and working with customers, Jason can be found embracing his passions away from the office. He's an avid golfer, seeking the perfect swing and mastery of the game that will never come. Additionally, he loves the serenity of being on the water, whether it's fishing or simply enjoying a boat ride. Most importantly, Jason values family time, often spending quality moments with his wife and two boys, creating memories and enjoying the simple pleasures of life together.

Jim Beahm

Account Executive
Jim Beahm is an Account Executive at DATABASICS, where he works closely with our partner team, handling all partner referrals, and building relationships with partners and their clients, while guiding them through our sales process.
 
Before joining DATABASICS, Jim spent time in the HRIS & Expense, Travel, & Invoice Management space. Building lasting relationships with clients and partners has been the key to his success, achieving multiple President’s clubs over his eight years prior to DATABASICS.
 
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and minor in Business with University of New England.
 
Big on relationships and connecting, Jim enjoys his family time with his wife and daughter. You can find them out on Big Sebago swimming and enjoying their boat “The Stella B.” When he’s not enjoying the lake, Jim tools around on the golf course or works on his 1800s farmhouse.

Loran Abdul Massih

Software Test Engineer
Loran Abdul Massih is a Software Test Engineer at DATABASICS, where he collaborates with the development team and customers to analyze business requirements, diagnose issues, and recommend upgrades or customizations. He ensures that the necessary improvements are implemented by developers to maintain the product functionality and quality. 
 
Prior to joining DATABASICS, Loran worked as a Computer Specialist, where he designed databases using SQL Plus and Form Builder, trained employees on software usage, created reports with Report Builder, and performed database maintenance and clean-up. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering.
 
In his free time, Loran enjoys exploring new technologies. He is married and has one child, with whom he loves spending quality time, playing, and making memories. Loran also has a personal interest in watching soccer games, both in person and on TV, which he finds to be a fantastic way to unwind.

Mike Duggan

Channel Director
Mike Duggan is Channel Director at DATABASICS. With over 20 years of experience, Mike Duggan excels in forging mutually beneficial relationships. He is recognized by partners for building strong connections and partnerships across Sage, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and NetSuite VARs and ISVs. Mike's expertise spans a wide range of areas, including networking and account mapping, resulting in an approach that drives positive results and long-lasting partnerships.
 
Mike lives just outside the Portland, Maine area in Westbrook and is from the Boston area. He roots for all the local Boston sports teams and considers all movies filmed in Boston or about Boston to be the best films ever made. While not working, Mike enjoys traveling to new places with his wife Kelly and spending as much time as he can with his daughters, Emily and Julia. On weekends he can be found on the golf course or grilling in his backyard.

Rahul Sangewar

Application and System Administrator, IT
Rahul Sangewar is an Application and System Administrator at DATABASICS, overseeing IT infrastructure, security, and automation. He manages server administration, SAML authentication, virtualization, system monitoring, and data center operations, ensuring seamless deployments and business continuity.
 
Before joining DATABASICS, he worked as an IT Helpdesk Extern at Pediatric Specialists of Virginia, providing technical support in a fast-paced clinical environment. He installed and configured network devices, managed port configurations, and collaborated with the Children's National Hospital Network team. Additionally, he assisted with asset management, and improved network infrastructure by upgrading and optimizing the IT office.
 
He holds a Master’s in Cybersecurity and Computer Science from the George Washington University and a Bachelor’s in Computer Information Science, Network & Cyber Security from ECPI University.
 
Outside of work, Rahul enjoys staying active and exploring the outdoors, whether it’s hiking scenic trails, conquering the whitewater rapids, or playing basketball and soccer. A passionate cook and fitness enthusiast, he loves creating delicious, healthy meals. He also enjoys long walks with his dog and takes every opportunity to ride his motorcycle. Additionally, as a Grease Monkey, he enjoys working on his own cars, embracing every adventure along the way!

Ryan Vaz

Director of IT and Security
Ryan Vaz serves as the Director of IT and Security at DATABASICS, where he leads the company's technology infrastructure and security initiatives. With a comprehensive approach to IT management, Ryan oversees system performance optimization, security protocols, and multi-site IT operations while maintaining crucial relationships with external vendors and service providers.
 
During his 14+-year tenure at DATABASICS, Ryan has established and maintained robust IT infrastructure standards. His role encompasses critical responsibilities including conducting security audits, implementing business continuity measures, and ensuring the protection of systems, networks, and data across the organization.
 
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Technology from Marymount University.
 
Beyond his professional commitments, Ryan is an active individual who enjoys a variety of pursuits. He's an enthusiast of both physical and mental challenges, regularly engaging in soccer and tennis matches, as well as strategic games of chess. When not on the court or at the chessboard, he can be found expanding his knowledge through reading or exploring new destinations through his love of travel. Above all, Ryan cherishes time spent with his children, making family activities a top priority in his life.

Client Implementation Consultant
Sophie Bukrinsky is a key member of the professional services team at DATABASICS, serving as a client implementation consultant and project manager. She specializes in overseeing the integration of DATABASICS' software systems within client organizations, ensuring smooth transitions and effective solutions. Sophie acts as a pivotal liaison between clients and technical teams, addressing client needs and resolving issues throughout the implementation and rollout phases.
 
Prior to joining DATABASICS, she worked as a project manager for the CIBER Institute at George Washington University. She has a background of accounting and data analysis from her previous role at a hospitality group.
 
Sophie holds an MBA from George Washington University and a BA in Government and Politics and Spanish from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is fluent in Russian and conversational in Spanish with a passion for connecting with people across cultures.
 
Outside of work, Sophie enjoys running with her dog, experimenting with new recipes, and applying her creativity to private interior design projects.

Suraj Dubey is the Senior Systems and Network Administrator at DATABASICS, where he has been an integral part of the IT team for over 8 years. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the organization’s network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, high availability, and robust security. Suraj also partners with cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless system integration and maintain maximum uptime for critical business operations.
 
Prior to joining DATABASICS, Suraj worked as an SAP Security Consultant at Infosys Ltd, where he collaborated with clients across the UK and USA, delivering tailored solutions to meet their security needs.
 
Suraj holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Computer Networking from The George Washington University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Mumbai.
 
A passionate music enthusiast, Suraj enjoys collecting records and CDs, always on the lookout for new additions to his collection. He loves cooking and finds relaxation in sketching. At the end of the day, Suraj unwinds by watching true crime or reality TV with his wife and their cat.

Torbjorn Nilsen is the Director of Business Analysis and Solutions Architect at DATABASICS. In this role, he is a global authority in Time and Expense Reporting and drives impactful initiatives that align fiscal targets with operational excellence to ensure customer success.
 
Since graduating from Andrews University and starting his software industry career at Oracle, Torbjorn has collaborated with hundreds of partners and customers. Over the last 20 years at DATABASICS, Torbjorn has built strategic relationships with executive teams and operational staff at Fortune 100 companies, government agencies, non-profits, and startups. He continues to facilitate successful rollouts of sustainable solutions, improving operational efficiency, and delivering tangible bottom-line value.
 
In the wild, Torbjorn can often be spotted on local soccer fields practicing his rabona and epic goal celebrations.
